| Tortuga is my nickname, not because I’m a Pirates of a Caribbean fan; well I am but that’s besides the point; Tortuga is Spanish for Turtle. Since childhood my Mother has always called me her little Turtle; not because I’m mentally retarded; but it kind of goes along the lines of the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. I have an older sister ( The Hare), she was always in a hurry growing up and in real life as of now, she was never patient enough to just take her time to get to her dreams and goals. I, on the other hand, am the opposite. I take my time, learn from my mistakes or others, and carry on until I succeed. I’m also half Hispanic, hence why it’s in Spanish. My name is Cassandra; Cassi or Tortuga is fine. I am half Panamanian and half Scot-Irish Native Indian something. I have massively curly hair, thanks to my dear old breeding father; and brown eyes. After high school I went to school at the Virginia School of Massage, but I wasn’t passionate enough about it to fulfill that kind of profession. My true profession is floral designing, I was taught from my Mom, she’s been in the industry for 30+ years. I’m not interested in designing because I want to follow in my Mom’s footsteps, I just after watching her and doing it myself; I really think I felt what she felt and has been feeling when designing. It’s not just something to be creative with, it’s your special touch in every piece.; whether it’s a balloon bouquet for a 4 year old, or the bridal flowers for an elegant wedding, or the casket cover for a funeral. When you talk to someone who is desperately seeking your expertise to help celebrate a birthday or an anniversary, it really is a wonderful feeling of fulfillment and accommodating. My skills gained greater when I moved to Tampa Florida in Fall ‘06, and I was hired at a very large company with one of the best designers I gratefully had the opportunity to work with. I’ve gathered the love to perform, whether it’s singing, acting, dancing, etc. I love being on stage. I collect two things, vinyl records and anything that has to do with turtles. I love the colors of the sun, minus yellow, yellow is just a shameful primary color. I listen to anything just about. My favorite genre is punk and anything from the 20’s. My two favorite artists are Tori Amos and Cole Porter. I’m a Tank Girl fanatic. I’m extremely funny, or at least I think so ; I really do get joy out of making people laugh from my goofy tard’dness. If your laughing and smiling and just having a wonderful time, that’s the best gift to me. I generally think of others before I think of myself, even if it takes every penny from my wallet. I’m also pretty outspoken to my opinion and what’s on my mind. |
